[The view opens to a shot of the sea. Pure, pristine, gorgeous...

And apparently filled with swarms of oncoming Pokemon.]

Tesla, fire!

[A huge blast of electricity rips past Twilight into the sea, striking all the nearby swarming fossil Pokemon and knocking out a good chunk of them.]

Thank Celestia for strong Electric-types... Does anyone know what's causing this? I woke up this morning and the town was practically covered in these ancient Pokemon. I've been doing my best to hold them back, as have several others, but they just keep on coming no matter what we do. Is this happening everywhere?

[A small group of Kabuto, Omanyte, and Tirtouga dare the beach again only to be zapped into unconsciousness by Tesla. The Magnezone doesn't even seem tired when Twilight turns the camera on it, though it would probably be hard to tell...]

We've been okay so far, but we can't keep this up forever. And what if they start coming from somewhere aside from-

[There's a loud cry from behind. Twilight whirls around and the shot pans up to show the top of the lighthouse-

Which is covered in Archen that have just flown down from Route 39.]

The sea. Oh horseapples.

[One of the Archen screeches as it lifts off, and the feed ends with that ominous shot.]

[John's feed opens up to something of a similar situation, though he's nowhere near the sea. There's a Venusaur behind him, somewhat hesitantly vine whipping whatever fossilmons come too close and a Dusknoir covering his back, Thunderpunching whatever comes to the Venusaur's blind spot. Occasionally a Rotom and a Haunter dart by on the screen, sending out a variety of shocks and energy balls.]

Seance gone wrong is the short story. It was actually kind of interesting to watch bu-- wagh! [John dodges a blast of water aimed directly at him from somewhere offscreen.] Fennel, buddy, got a Kabuto over here with your name on it!

[He waves to the Venusaur behind him before looking back at the screen, smiling apologetically at Twilight.]

Sorry about that. As you can see, yeah, it's like this pretty much everywhere.

Seance? So these are... ghosts? Zombies? Something else?

[Not really the time to figure that out as an Archen flies over her head before being Dragon Rushed by an irritated Dragonite.]

When did this happen, anyway?

Uhh... probably closer to zombies, yeah. They're resurrected mostly-extinct Pokémon. I say "mostly" extinct, because it is still possible to find them nowadays it's just really hard. I've really only heard of people getting them as starters or as mystery eggs, you know the ones we sometimes get for Christmas and such? So when you think about it, this is really kind of a cool, once-in-a-lifetime sort of experience! [A beat.] Except for... you know, the whole rampaging thing. That part I think we could all do without.

Anyway, the whole thing happened at midnight. Sabrina was trying to channel some reporter who was presumed dead. Unfortunately some of her guests got a little overexcited and broke her concentration. So instead of figuring out what happened to the guy, she ended up raising hordes of prehistoric fossilmons. The whole thing was broadcast live on TV, you missed quite a show!

I suppose I can't argue that it is a pretty amazing experience. And opportunity, if you want to catch some of them. But the part about them attacking is kind of a big deal! I'd say it does a pretty good job of overshadowing the good sides.

Midnight? Sheesh, no wonder I missed it. I've never been so disappointed to have gotten to sleep at a decent hour. I wonder if the news stations will replay the broadcast.

[There's some abrupt movement on the screen, as Atsuro moves out of the way to avoid some Cranidoses. A moment later, a blast of water can be seen hitting them.]

Thanks, Antec. [Who's the best Lanturn? Yes, you are.] So yeah, we can pretty much assume it's everywhere?

You know, back home I wouldn't have put any stock in things like seances. But here, it's surprisingly easy to believe one could have an effect like this.

[A wave of ice freezes several Archens and sends them plummeting to the ground in the background as Twilight's Dragonite keeps up the fight.]

So, next question. How do we stop it?

I can believe it back home, mostly due to other weird things going on. [Bloodless murders, the whole demons thing.] But yeah, it's easier to believe it in this world when they have ghost types and legends.

A flurry of sharp leaves from his Tropius flies out and cuts the Shieldons.]

I don't know how, yet. We need to stop the source somehow, as well as something large scale to calm down all of them.

[There's some pretty frantic squawking in the background, as behind Kayneth a shiny Archeops can be seen... apparently trying to negotiate with a crowd of Tirtouga, Anorith, Archen, Kabuto, and Omanyte that appear to have them surrounded. There's a shiny Machamp and a Serperior standing next to the Archeops... it's a little difficult to tell, but they seem a bit tense.

Basically, it was... well, it was interesting, I'll say that. Apparently one of the gym leaders was trying to contact the spirit of a trainer whom they presume dead after he disappeared in Lavender Town. I wasn't exactly expecting a seance to produce results here, much less the wrong results... this is patently absurd.

Well, to be fair, with Ghosts being a known quantity the degree of logic something like a seance holds suddenly takes a fairly dramatic swing upwards.

That said, I still probably wouldn't have believed it without seeing it for myself. Even knowing the cause I'm kind of amazed it could produce this sort of effect.

... By the way, what exactly is your Archeops doing?

Yes, that's true. I suppose I'm just somewhat bitter that the natives have the ability to do that sort of thing when we're left stripped of any powers we had before coming here.

[at this rate, he's going to develop a complex! ...granted that implies that hasn't already happened...]

...Ah, he's trying to negotiate with the attacking Pokemon. Since he's a fossil Pokemon himself, we both assumed that we may as well see if it's worth giving a shot, but it hasn't been working out too well.

[ Hello, Twilight Sparkle! See a cranidos? Well, luckily for the rest of Blackthorn, Tsunade punches the pure rock thing down. Its attempts to get back up are halted by a water gun. The feed is shaky, and turns its focus onto the woman who punched the rock dinosaur (who is looking just as ancient as these fossils) and a tentacool on her head. ]

It's happening all over Johto! I'm not sure about Kanto, though. The gym leaders tried to have a seance to find a dead guy, but it failed. Spectacularly. [ As seen by these living rocks attacking everything. ]

Given that the usual purpose behind a seance is to summon spirits of the dead, you could also say that it succeeded beyond their wildest expectations.

Also, how in the world did you do that without pulverizing your hand? I didn't think that sort of durability was humanly possible.

I'm not sure if you could use the word beyond, this is a pretty wild expectation. [ And then a kick to an incoming kabuto shuffles the thing away. ]

I specialize in hand to hand combat back home. A lot of the strength I have is gone but I still am pretty strong here regardless. Even though it's rock, it's organic, so it's not like I'm punching an actual mountain. [ Her broken hand can be taken to the pokémon center later!! ]

[Spike had seen Twilight's feed, and...well...things weren't exactly going great over in Goldenrod either. He'd been wandering around the outskirts of the National Park with a couple of his pokemon in the early morning when all of a sudden weird pokemon started crawling out of the ground. His feed clicks on to a video of him, but he wasn't standing still. In fact, going by the motion of the video, and the background streaking past, anyone watching could tell Spike was running.]

Twilight!

[Huff, huff]

Are you okay? What was that noise?

[There's a screeching sound behind him, and a panicked look crosses his face.]

Don't worry, I think I just found out!

ACORN! Take Down!

[The gear video spins wildly as Spike hits the dirt, more screeching sounding closer.]

FORRET! FORRETRESSSS!

[BOOOOM]

[The feed shakes at the impact of two attacks colliding. A few seconds and Spike is up and running again.]

Forretress! Over here!

[Spike focuses on the feed again.]

Where...[huff huff] are they all coming from?

[Twilight's first call of panic when the screeching sound is heard is interrupted by the Forretress's attack. Once the noise peters out she tries again.]

I've gotten a few responses by now, apparently- [She's interrupted by a couple astounded squawks, followed by the plummeting bodies of several Archen hitting the ground as Spike the Dragonite shows off how many levels in sheer badass he has (hint: it's a lot).]

As I was saying, apparently the gym leader of Saffron City, Sabrina, was holding a seance to contact the spirit of a dead reporter. But something went wrong. And now, well... you can see the results.

[Spike's still running, but slows down a little as the sounds subside somewhat.]

A seance? You're kidding right? Seriously, what is she, Trixie?

So wait a minute...you mean these are dead pokemon?!?

[Spike's looking a little pale as he stops suddenly, wildly looking around. Dead pokemon. Because that's what he needed today.]

Er....exactly how many are we talking here?

[It may be a bit of a close call, but Twilight will quickly notice the dive-bombing pokemon quickly halting-- perhaps a bit too quickly than it intended. A thick sticky substance hangs in the air, wrapped around the ancient bird. Electricity surges through the goop, shocking the bird while holding it in place.]

Skits, bring 'er down!

[AJ runs full-tilt at her friend, a large Galvantula flying over her shoulder using Magnet Rise. The spider glares at the bird, unleashing a powerful thunderbolt onto the ensnared dinosaur. The electricity is enough to evaporate the web holding the Archen in place. In a moment, it falls to the ground unconscious.]

If this ain't the weirdest day I've had in a while, huh, Twilight? [Chuckle.]

[Twilight wasn't all that concerned about the bird attacking her in the first place. With the towering form of Spike darting through the sky, it would have been intercepted anyway. But she's very glad to see Applejack, and greets her with a slightly strained smile.]

Well, I certainly can't think of any recent times that give it a decent challenge, at any rate. Not since... the Grimer invasion, and you weren't here for that. Still, I think we're doing pretty well for ourselves, so far.

It's a nice way t'get some trainin' in, at least. I might even be able t'skip my workout tomorrow mornin'.

[As Skitter enjoys taking another flying pokemon out of the sky, Blossom the Venusaur approaches Tesla. She blocks the sun from her eyes with one of her vines, looking out to sea.

It is rather lovely today, isn't it, Mr. Tesla?]

(Rainbow saw Twilight's feed and, once finding an appropriate time to do so, made sure to get in touch with her fellow pony. She was going through mostly the same insanity, but anyone could tell she was having a blast!)

...Okay Lightning: THUNDER!

(That alone should've informed Twilight that she'd made sure to watch her video.)

Give 'em a taste of your Fire Blast, Blaze! (A beat.) 'Sup, Twilight? Everything alright?

(And a quick dodge to the right to avoid a rampant attack.) Solar Beam, Daring!

Rainbow! Where are Pinkie, Rarity and Spike? Are they safe? Did you get them to Center or the Hotel or... something?

[Rainbow herself Twilight's not all too worried about. Her Pokemon are plenty strong by this point and she should be able to handle herself. But the other ponies and Spike are a completely different story.]

(Uh-oh. Twilight's worried, and that's not a good thing. Better calm her down 'cause when Twilight worries she can't get them out of this...whatever it is!)

It's not easy getting through all these...weird Pokemon, but I'm looking for 'em right now! I left Spike near the Park 'cause he wanted some training before this went down...hang on...GO, DASH!

(Ta-da! A fiery blue mane appears as Rainbow jumps onto Dash's back with Lightning on her shoulder, recalling Daring and then Blaze before the Fire-type broke into a very fast run.)

Heading back to the Park now! Pinkie and Rarity can't be too far from me if I'm reading the Gear right, and the first thing I do when I get Spike I'm gonna drop him off at the Center! And I'll leave Daring to look out for him! (A beat while she blinks a few times.) What's going on, Twilight?!
