[The view opens to a shot of the sea. Pure, pristine, gorgeous...

And apparently filled with swarms of oncoming Pokemon.]

Tesla, fire!

[A huge blast of electricity rips past Twilight into the sea, striking all the nearby swarming fossil Pokemon and knocking out a good chunk of them.]

Thank Celestia for strong Electric-types... Does anyone know what's causing this? I woke up this morning and the town was practically covered in these ancient Pokemon. I've been doing my best to hold them back, as have several others, but they just keep on coming no matter what we do. Is this happening everywhere?

[A small group of Kabuto, Omanyte, and Tirtouga dare the beach again only to be zapped into unconsciousness by Tesla. The Magnezone doesn't even seem tired when Twilight turns the camera on it, though it would probably be hard to tell...]

We've been okay so far, but we can't keep this up forever. And what if they start coming from somewhere aside from-

[There's a loud cry from behind. Twilight whirls around and the shot pans up to show the top of the lighthouse-

Which is covered in Archen that have just flown down from Route 39.]

The sea. Oh horseapples.

[One of the Archen screeches as it lifts off, and the feed ends with that ominous shot.]

[It may be a bit of a close call, but Twilight will quickly notice the dive-bombing pokemon quickly halting-- perhaps a bit too quickly than it intended. A thick sticky substance hangs in the air, wrapped around the ancient bird. Electricity surges through the goop, shocking the bird while holding it in place.]

Skits, bring 'er down!

[AJ runs full-tilt at her friend, a large Galvantula flying over her shoulder using Magnet Rise. The spider glares at the bird, unleashing a powerful thunderbolt onto the ensnared dinosaur. The electricity is enough to evaporate the web holding the Archen in place. In a moment, it falls to the ground unconscious.]

If this ain't the weirdest day I've had in a while, huh, Twilight? [Chuckle.]

[Twilight wasn't all that concerned about the bird attacking her in the first place. With the towering form of Spike darting through the sky, it would have been intercepted anyway. But she's very glad to see Applejack, and greets her with a slightly strained smile.]

Well, I certainly can't think of any recent times that give it a decent challenge, at any rate. Not since... the Grimer invasion, and you weren't here for that. Still, I think we're doing pretty well for ourselves, so far.

It's a nice way t'get some trainin' in, at least. I might even be able t'skip my workout tomorrow mornin'.

[As Skitter enjoys taking another flying pokemon out of the sky, Blossom the Venusaur approaches Tesla. She blocks the sun from her eyes with one of her vines, looking out to sea.

It is rather lovely today, isn't it, Mr. Tesla?]

[Blip beep boop bloop buzz.

Translation: ... I have no idea nobody except Bracer can understand Tesla. It seems happy though.]

Don't be so sure. I think we might have "workouts" booked for the next several mornings.

We have t'knock 'em all out eventually, right?

[Because she doesn't want to have to catch all of them.

Blossom watches as Tesla continues to unload electric attacks on the coastline.

Would you care for some assistance, Mr. Tesla?]

Well, one would hope.

[After another volley, the looming spaceship turns to look right at Blossom, then slightly to its left, then back to where it started. Given that there's a small swarm of Kabuto and Omanyte trying to crawl in that way, it most likely is implying she should set up shop there to stop them.]

It's just, how many is "all of them"? A hundred? A thousand? A million?

...I count at least twenty of 'em, so far, not includin' the ones we've already handled.

[One day Applejack will take a dangerous situation seriously. But not this one. I mean, she doesn't even have a farm to defend here.

Blossom smiles up at the space ship, gingerly stepping a bit to the side. She briefly glances up at the sky, and then at the approaching pokemon. She squarely plants her four feet in the sand and begins charging sunlight.]

Those are just the ones we can see though. They just keep coming. Tesla's got the sea more or less held back, and it looks like Blossom's giving it a hand, but even they can't keep it up forever, and I don't know when the Archen'll stop either.

[She grimaces at the thought of being essentially buried under an unending army of fossil Pokemon.]

I don't like it, AJ. There's almost no way to genuinely know our opponents' numbers, and that worries me.

I ain't gonna let that happen. If I gotta be out here blastin' away all night long, then that's what I'm gonna do.

That might be counterproductive, depending on how long they keep coming... Who else is around to help us, anyway? Is Jasmine getting involved?

The gym leader? What's she got t'do with this?

It's her city, isn't it? Doesn't it stand to reason she should involve herself in protecting it?

I reckon she'd be better off tryin' to find out what caused all this. She's strong, all right, but she's smart, too.

[She ducks as an Archen dive-bombs her head, Skits in close pursuit.]

I could say th'same for you. Got any theories yet?

Actually, it looks like theories might be unnecessary. I've heard about a seance that was held last night. If what I'm getting over the gear is accurate, these are actually the spirits of long-dead Pokemon reclaiming their bodies and rising up against the modern world.

[Well that just sounds like a bad movie.]

A seance? Like somepony talkin' to ghosts? I thought that was just somethin' folks said t'scare fillies. That kind of stuff ain't really real, is it?

Maybe one a' the revivin' machines went haywire or somethin'.

Keep in mind this is a world where ghosts are an actual thing, AJ. I wouldn't be too surprised if seances actually worked here. What surprises me is that anyone would be powerful enough to call up this many unquiet spirits.

At least we can catch 'em. They ain't dangerous if they're cooped up in balls.

Yeah, but they just keep coming.

... I said that already, didn't I? No matter, it bears repeating. Did they call up all the extinct Pokemon in Johto?

It sure feels like it. Should we get t'higher ground or somethin'? If they're just gonna keep comin' we probably shouldn't be out in the open like this.

Hmmm, not a bad idea, but the only really high place in Olivine is the lighthouse, which...

[She turns her eyes to the lighthouse and the small army of Archen still circling it.]

Well, I think you see the problem.

Y'think turnin' on the light house would scare 'em off?

Well, the lighthouse is powered by a very strong electric Ampharos, and they're flying types, so it's worth a shot. I think we'll have to take the long way and climb it on foot though. Flying in, even on dragonback, seems like a bad idea.

You might be right. Spook is mighty tough, but he's too slow t'make it through that swarm.

And Spike's both strong and fast enough to make it through on his own, but anyone riding him would be flying into a whirlwind of talons and beaks.

Maybe we should send out our stronger flying types to keep them harried while we run up?

Skits can fly well enough with Magnet Rise. Spook should be able t'take out more than a few of 'em.

That's all the flyin' pokemon I got on me, though.
