21st Spell: [Video/Action for Olivine]
[The view opens to a shot of the sea. Pure, pristine, gorgeous...
And apparently filled with swarms of oncoming Pokemon.]
Tesla, fire!
[A huge blast of electricity rips past Twilight into the sea, striking all the nearby swarming fossil Pokemon and knocking out a good chunk of them.]
Thank Celestia for strong Electric-types... Does anyone know what's causing this? I woke up this morning and the town was practically covered in these ancient Pokemon. I've been doing my best to hold them back, as have several others, but they just keep on coming no matter what we do. Is this happening everywhere?
[A small group of Kabuto, Omanyte, and Tirtouga dare the beach again only to be zapped into unconsciousness by Tesla. The Magnezone doesn't even seem tired when Twilight turns the camera on it, though it would probably be hard to tell...]
We've been okay so far, but we can't keep this up forever. And what if they start coming from somewhere aside from-
[There's a loud cry from behind. Twilight whirls around and the shot pans up to show the top of the lighthouse-
Which is covered in Archen that have just flown down from Route 39.]
The sea. Oh horseapples.
[One of the Archen screeches as it lifts off, and the feed ends with that ominous shot.]

[She takes hold of the other one and begins to climb.]
We've got five flights if I recall correctly, and about twenty stairs a flight. That's a hundred steps, give or take. Honestly, in comparison to the one in Sombra's Castle it's nothing.
[Though she'd had her hardier pony body and her magic then...]
no subject
[She goes against her instinct to follow Twilight's advice. She wants to run to the top as quickly as she can, but she knows conserving her energy is necessary.]
no subject
[She just focuses on putting one foot in front of the other, trying not to count how far she's gotten or how long they have to go. She knows that'll just make it seem longer.
They've climbed up about a third of the way when suddenly, there's a loud wail from above.]
What was that?
no subject
[Sorry, Twilight, but you're taking your walk alone. Applejack bolts up the stairs, quick to reach her ailing monster.]
no subject
[Grimacing, she speeds up herself, though not to running speed. She wants to, oh how she wants to, but she knows she can't. She has to conserve her energy if she's going to be of use to anyone up there. Resolutely, she forces out the sounds coming from up above and climbs.]

Hang on, Sugarcube! I'm comin'!

Several of them are biting Spook, who is for his own part trying to deal with them largely through the tried and true strategy of "Shadow Ball to the face". Unfortunately for each one he drops another takes its place. An orange blur rushes past, dropping several more of them, but even Spike's Dragon Rush can't bring them all down at once.
Twilight's still climbing as the scene unfolds in front of Applejack's eyes.]

[She calls out to the massive balloon pokemon, waving frantically over the railing. Spook was a smart pokemon, and about as strong as they come, but no one can last forever against these numbers. They needed something to even the odds.]
Spook! Give it the biggest thunderbolt you can manage!
[The balloon lets out a tired groan and begins charging electricity. The flying beasts continue to swarm his purple body as he turns his gaze to Spike. Give us a hand, here?]

Twilight is almost up.]
no subject
If only it was enough to get them all.]

Ampharos! You've got to get up! Your light can scare them off!
[Amphy, however, doesn't look like she wants to listen to Twilight. She just curls up tighter on herself. Twilight grimaces.]
Okay, Twi, think... how do you motivate a scared Pokemon?
no subject
no subject
Amphy, listen to me! Somewhere down there, these things are looking for Jasmine.
[That gets the Ampharos's attention. She raises her head and stares at Twilight through tear-filled eyes.]
She'll fight if she has to, but even she can't hold these things off forever. But your light can scare them off. She's counting on you, Amphy! You've got to shine your light and get rid of them!
[Taking Twilight's words to heart, Amphy gulps, rises to her feet, takes a deep breath...
And just as the Protect falls and the swarm prepares to finish Spook, a blinding light emanates from the lighthouse.]

AJ forces the brim of her hat over her eyes, peeking into the bright light just long enough to spot the near-fainted Spook hovering in front of them. She would have to get him to a PokeCenter as soon as she could. Her whole team deserved a nice, long rest. She approached the balcony, retrieving his ball from her backpack.]
Way t'go, Sugarcube. I knew I could rely on--
[As the giant blimp monster returned to his hand-held home, an Archen, confused and blinded, dives at the balcony. Still covering her eyes, Applejack never saw it coming. It hit her square in the back with enough energy to force her over the railing.]
no subject
[Springing to the railing at a speed that would make Rainbow Dash take notice, Twilight rushes to save her before she can slip out of reach. Spike is already turning to aid, but he won't make it anywhere close to in time.
AJ falls completely over the railing, and gravity begins to take hold...
But literally at the last second, Twilight manages to throw both arms over the side and grab her hand. Her own momentum and Applejack's weight combine to slam her torso into the railing hard enough to bruise, but sheer adrenaline lets her shrug it off as she desperately clings to AJ's hand.]
Hurk... AJ... hang on...
no subject
[AJ recoils in pain from the impact. One hand grasps Twilight's hand, the other moves to grip her forearm.]
J-just hold on tight, Twilight! I-I might be able to...
[She kicks against the side of the lighthouse, trying to find some kind of leverage to push herself back over. No luck. She suddenly wish she heeded Twilight's warning about running up the stairs.]
no subject
[She braces herself against the railing and pulls, straining with everything she's got, but her little twiggy body is barely strong enough to remain even with AJ's muscular weight. Spike's flying in to help, but his bulk makes it hard to get up to top speed after such a sharp turn without use of an attack... and Dragon Rushing AJ wouldn't help.
Her palms are sweaty. Twilight can actually feel herself losing her grip on Applejack, little by little. Panic sets in. Her mind shows her the mental image of Applejack slipping out of her grasp and falling to the ground below...]
NOOOOOOOOO!
[A sudden surge of even more adrenaline pumps into her muscles. She strains with all she's got. Her muscles scream in protest, even her joints feel like they're going to wrench themselves out of her sockets, but she still pours even more effort into it.
And AJ begins to rise. In fact, she begins to rise surprisingly fast...
Twilight's sheer panic at the thought of losing her actually gives her the strength to yank AJ back up, over the railing...
And right into her.
She doesn't even have a moment to wonder what just happened before she's crashed into and sent onto her back, collapsing on the floor underneath Applejack in a dazed heap.]
no subject
...Nice breeze tonight, huh?
no subject
[Every cell in Twilight's body feels like it's crying out in agony. She's actually tearing up because of how bad it is. But through the haze of her pain and tears, she can see Applejack trying to smile for her.
The sun is behind her. It makes it almost look like she's glowing.]
AJ...
[She suddenly realizes she's being crushed by the weight of Applejack's body on her bruised torso, but she can't even bring herself to care. AJ's okay. She's safe.
Twilight flings her arms around her friend and clings like a barnacle.]
Oh thank Celestia! I thought I'd... I thought you'd...
[Oh hey, she might be starting to break down there.]
no subject
Who is right beneath her.
...Oops.
She gently wraps her arms around Twilight's lower back, gently rolling until they laid beside each other. She touched her forehead against the top of Twilight's head.]
Like you'd ever fail t'save me. One a' these days I'm actually going to repay the favor...
[She chuckles weakly, silently thankful that she's not laying at the bottom of the lighthouse right now.]
no subject
[She can still hear her voice if she closes her eyes and envisions it. "Let go. I promise you'll be safe." And she had been. Applejack had held onto her just long enough for Rainbow and Fluttershy to get where they needed to be. It was probably the turning point in getting her to trust these strange ponies who insisted on befriending her.]
So... I don't think I can move right now. You?
[Part of her kind of actually hopes Applejack won't be in any better shape than she is. Now that the immediate threat is over, lying next to her at the lighthouse is kind of... nice.]
no subject
Still, Twilight's body was soft and comfortingly warm. Her arms, still shaking from nerves, gently tighten around her dear friend's waist.]
...I reckon we can stay here for a little while.
no subject
Until she notices something. Her eyes turn to the railing one more time, but now she's looking past it.]
Hey. The sun's setting.
[It's a gorgeous sight, to be sure. The horizon turning red, pink, and purple all at once as the sun goes down, over the gently wafting waves... and all with no ancient Pokemon to get in the way, thanks to them. It's like they can bask in their victory, at least for a little while.
Her eyes turn to Applejack. The light's playing on her hair, making it look reddish-gold. It's a lovely look on her, really. Twilight finds herself completely caught up in it.]
no subject
[Though for now, her gaze is distracted by something far more attractive. The sunset frames Twilight's face in a soft corona of red and purple.]
Maybe we should just spend the night up here?
no subject
[She's already cuddling into Applejack as she says that, making it that much less likely they'll be moving anytime soon. It doesn't help that her eyes are still glued to AJ's face.]
