18th Spell: [Video/Action for Route 36]

[The gear clicks on to show what looks like a room out of an old, rustic cabin, a fairly small one with two benches on the sides, next to windows. Three girls are lounging around in it and four backpacks litter the floor. The view holds there for a few moments... long enough to tell that the "room" is moving.]

I have to admit, this really did work out quite well.

[The gear turns around to show off Twilight's smiling face.]

Amazing what you can put together with a little teamwork, isn't it? I'm still not sure how we'll get this thing over some of the terrain Johto and Kanto have to offer, not to mention traveling between regions, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, as the saying goes.

At any rate, we're about to make our stop so I can show the outside- [Twilight's interrupted by a sudden whinny from outside.] What the... Dash! What's going on?

[There's a bit of a clamor as she shoves herself up to one of the windows along with the gear (and, judging by the noises, all of the other girls as well) and the resultant view of the outside shows a small group of Yanma buzzing by, clearly agitated by the giant intruder in their midst.]

... Well, I should have expected this thing would draw some extra attention. Sorry everyone, I'll have to finish what I was saying later.

[She clicks off the feed.]

[OOC: So, Applejack decided a while ago that the pony group needed a wagon, so she built one! (With mod permission, of course.) This is its first journey, and Twilight will be showing the rest thing off after they deal with their little infestation. Questions about it will be fielded mostly by either Twi or AJ.]

[Applejack was sprawled out on one of the wagon's benches when the bug pokemon attacked. She pokes her head out of the window and scowls.]

Oh no you don't, you winged varmints! You ain't tearin' apart this wagon on its maiden voyage!

[Stowing her gear, Twilight yanks open the door and jumps out to hold them off, tossing her current team (Spike, Pyro, and Starswirl, with the others being her eggs) into the fray.]

(Rainbow was lounging about in her regular way, commonly referred to as napping...which was sorely interrupted thanks to the Yanma, which caused her to wake up in a cranky mood.)

Say no more! Good thing today's the day I picked for training all my Fire types...

(She's quick to jump out when the door opens, throwing her current team -Blaze and Tails while quickly unhooking Dash from the wagon so she could join in, with the rest being her eggs- into battle!)

[Eeek! She stumbles a bit, trying to get her footing. As always, Shy tries to go the peaceful route, sticking her head out.]

W-wait! Maybe I can talk to them? Maybe?

[Applejack shakes her head, smiling through the redness in her cheeks. She sits down on the roof of the wagon, cradling one of her eggs in her lap.]

Sorry I wasn't much help out there, Sugarcube...

[Twilight just plops down next to her and shrugs nonchalantly.]

Well, that's what happens when you buy enough eggs to make a whole new team and then some. Don't worry too much about it, we got through okay. And I got a new Pokemon out of it.

[She won't be able to do anything about said Yanma until they reach Ecruteak, but that's fine. She's got a lot on her plate already anyway.]

Our teams just keep growin'. I just hope I built the wagon big enough. [She chuckles.]

That reminds me, exactly how many people did you have in mind when you designed this? Just us four, or were you thinking some of the others might join us here too?

That's a brilliant invention you've got there, but do be careful around the ledges!

That's actually a good point, and one I didn't think of. If we got hung up on a ledge in this thing it would take quite a bit of effort to get free.

Fortunately, I think we should be able to avoid that. Though as we just found out, there's not going to be anything that keeps us from making noise and attracting attention in this thing.

Just remember, only go down them! Not up! Perhaps you could carry some boards and make a ramp to roll down?

Now that's a good idea, assuming we can fit boards long enough to do so inside the wagon. I'll talk to AJ about it, we should be able to figure something out.

[He's going to ask about the wagon and designs and nerdiness in a second, but first, making sure his friends weren't eaten by a bunch of bugs takes priority.]

Hi Spencer. Sorry to worry you, we're fine. Once I caught the lead Yanma the rest scattered pretty quickly.

[Jeeze, don't worry him like that.

But now that he knows that you're okay, the nerdiness has to make an appearance.] Who made the wagon?

Yes, we're all okay. No injuries or anything.

[She beams at his question.] Well, the short answer is, all of us. I made the blueprints and double-checked the work every step of the way, Applejack did the heavy lifting and her and Rainbow Dash took care of most of the actual construction work, and Fluttershy guided the Pokemon we had that could help with the project.

Oooooh! You made a wagon!! That's so cool! Are you going to dress like cowgirls now~?

... You mean aside from Applejack?

Yes!! You all need to match the theme, right?

... Wow, those pokémon didn't really seem to happy with what you three made.

[She can't help but giggle a bit though. She knew that Twilight would be fine, her pokémon were more than a match for anything that was in the wild.]

So, other than that, what's it like having a wagon like that. It must beat traveling by foot, right?

It was apparently too loud and clattery for them. Which I understand, but it's not like we're sticking around. They'd only have had to deal with it for a little while longer as we passed them by.

[The question gets a decisive nod and grin.] Without a doubt. This wagon was one of the best ideas AJ's ever had, and I'm really pleased with how well it came out. Rainbow's Ponyta and Fluttershy's Boufallant don't seem to have too much trouble pulling it, either.

...That's... a fairly ingenious idea. I'm surprised more people don't think of it, to be honest.

I really find it hard to believe that the natives never seem to have thought of it. Many of them have domesticated Pokemon like Miltank that would be perfect for pulling something like this. I mean, admittedly the travelling conditions aren't perfect, you've never had a trip this bumpy, but it's still an improvement timewise and provides mobile shelter along with a way to rest your legs while still continuing your trip.

And yet... I can't take credit for the idea either. That goes to my friend Applejack, a farmgirl who's used this sort of thing all her life.

The most that they seem to have come up with has been the bicycle, which I would imagine is roughly the same in terms of how well it deals with the terrain while failing to provide any protection from the elements. This sort of thing doesn't even seem that difficult to put it together...

Well, that makes perfect sense. Isn't there a farm near Olivine, though? Surely they'd have some use for this sort of thing.
