Er... I think this is how it works.

Um... greetings. Er... I mean, hello. Or... well, whatever humans say in a situation like this. Is there proper etiquette for when you've been captured to another planet and had your species changed?

[Twilight is interrupted by a Dratini sticking his head into the camera, curious.]

Spike, cut that out. Um... and if the other Spike is seeing this, I promise, I named him after you, he's not a replacement.

Speaking of people listening to this, can anypony tell me if there is an Applejack, a Fluttershy, a Rarity, a Rainbow Dash, or a Pinkie Pie around? They're all very close friends of mine and I'd very much like to get in touch with them. As for me, I'm Twilight Sparkle.

I guess that's all I have for now...

Wait, no. One more question. How do you humans walk with two legs? I feel like I'm going to fall flat on my face!

[Since she's not out in public right now, she'll shift the wig a bit so Twilight can see her pink hairline! All her hair's been put into a tight braid and coiled against the top and back of her head to hide under the wig, so it's not all curly and stuff... but it's definitely Pinkie-shade!]

Ooookay... So, um, what's going on... Diane?

[This is going to take a lot of getting used to.]

Do you mean what's going on as in "waaah where am I? where's Spike? where's my library? where's Ponyville?" or "why do I look like a bald monkey?!" or "gee 'Diane' you sure sound like a friend of mine, why is that?" because I can answer pretty much all of those, but you might want to specify.

Well, the Princess, Luna that is, is helping me with the first few, so why don't we go with the last one. For now at least.

Okay well basically there's these bad guys called Team Rocket and when I first came to Johto I was part of them for some reason, even though I'm pretty much the worst villain, I mean, helloooo, my evil laugh isn't even down yet! But anyway, I was stuck in the town their old base was in for like, a month, but then Applejack flew me and the others out to Ecruteak so we could spend Halloween together - that's the human's version of Nightmare Night, except minus the connection to Nightmare Moon I guess - and then some time after that I got a message saying Team Rocket was going to pick up everyone and bring them to the new base and I didn't want to be on Team Rocket so we made a run for it the day before and went down to Goldenrod to hide out but I couldn't go out because it seems like they reported everyone who didn't show up to the police!

[....Deep breaths there, Pinkie. Don't want to pass out in the middle of this explanation.]

But I didn't want to be stuck inside forever so I asked Rarity to find me a wig and she helped make me a disguise so now I have to put on makeup when I go out and act like not-me and make sure I don't do anything too suspicious if there's any sort of police around so I don't go to jail! Especially since a little while after bringing everyone to the new Team Rocket base they went and attacked this train on its first trip and they hurt people and stole a bunch of pokémon and were really horrible meanies! One of my friends was in a wheelchair when I talked to him and everything's so much harsher here and injuries hurt for longer and I can't bounce or hide or pop in from nowhere or anything!

[She stops to breathe again, looking a little teary-eyed. She didn't mean to ramble like that, sorry Twilight! But it's hard to stop once she gets going.]

[Twilight listens to this all with a calm expression, which gets steadily more worried and aghast as she hears more. When Pinkie finally finishes, she looks like she's been hit in the stomach.]

That's... awful... [Give her a moment to engage that big brain of hers, that was a lot to absorb.]

So, wait... they sent you to this villain team? You? And now you can't even show your face?

Well I can show my face, I just can't really show my hair, since that's the part of me that's easiest to identify! Humans are so uncolourful. So many of them have the same skin colour or really similar, so even with the wig I have to be a little careful because my skin is kind of darker than most of the people I've seen! But yeah I got stuck on the villain team and it sucked.

[Sadface. But she's already getting over her teary episode, because she's still Pinkie Pie.]

And... do we have any idea who or what sent you there?

[Because really, that just sounds completely random, but Twilight really wants someone to blame.]

Not a clue!

[She sort of wishes she did, just so she could go frown at them.]

I was afraid of that...

Well, I guess right now all we can do is what you've been doing, until we figure out a way to clear your name and strike back.

[Pinkie puts on a surprisingly serious face.]

Team Rocket is really bad news, Twilight. It's gonna take a lot of training to beat them, and they're not exactly obvious. I heard on the train they had members pretending to be normal, and then the rest of them parachuted in. Even though there were people on the train who had really strong pokémon, they couldn't fight because their pokémon were too big, and there were a ton of innocent people on board that could have gotten hurt. And a lot of people did get hurt, some of them as badly as getting broken bones. They're not just bullies, and I don't think it's gonna be as easy as stuff we had to face back home.

Discord and Nightmare Moon weren't exactly pushovers. I'm not going to underestimate Team Rocket, and I won't go after them until I'm ready, but I won't let them get away with what they did.

... But I'm not going to go rushing in without a plan, either. Don't forget who you're talking to.

It'd be pretty hard to forget who I'm talking to while I'm talking to them!

[But she does look relieved.]

Though... hmm, I just had a thought. Are there any forces, aside from the police I mean, working against Team Rocket? Groups of trainers working together?

I don't think there's anything official, but a lot of the trainers here are really good people.

But they aren't working together... If they did, then...

Well, I guess that's a thought for another day. I've got to take this one problem at a time.

They work together sometimes! I heard they went to raid the old hideout but there was no one there.

Of course not. If they knew their hideout had been compromised the first thing they'd do is move.

Yeah, you're right. It seemed like they were planning the move for a while!

Which means they were alerted pretty early on. They must have a good information network.

I dunno, from what I understand people had been mentioning it was in Mahogany for ages on the pokégear network!

... Which means people around here just don't know how to keep things quiet. Great.

Oooh, but I meant people in Team Rocket! So the people brought here who are on the bad side aren't very good at it either.
