So, we're in the first week of the new month and we'll probably be getting new people for a while... and it's occurred to me that there's something about that I've been thinking about for some time now, but have never really addressed.

[Twilight folds her arms a bit, frowning in consideration at the screen.]

Most of us ought to know by now about the helpful guide that Riku, the owner of the training center and the new breeding center, wrote about this world some time ago. It's still a useful resource despite needing some updating, and it's where I got the seed of my idea, but it's a bit... oversized for a newcomer, no offense Riku.

Is there a way to maybe... [She pauses a moment to grope for words.] Create some sort of collective document where we all put in our thoughts on what a new arrival should know about this world right away? Something simple and straightforward, that gives them a grounding point for their first few days. I always worry I've forgotten to mention something important when I talk to someone new, and I think that's a problem we all share. This could fix that, and give them a bit of a leg up in adapting to this world. And as long as we all know about it we can be sure someone's going to show it to them when they arrive.

It might not seem like much, but if you think back on how we all felt when we first arrived, I think most of us would have really liked something like that to at least be available.

Ah, that's true. It wasn't an issue with me at all, but there's something similar in my world that recently showed up, so it was easy to transfer skills.

[Not to mention the fact that he's vaguely aware of Pokemon at home, too.]

I appreciate that. I was going to do it myself, but if you'd take on that duty, that would be more effort and time I can devote to gathering and sorting the data.

It's not an issue. I do work, but i have enough free time that it shouldn't be too difficult to take on. I'm used to being much more overworked at home.

Then I'll make sure to send it to you after I have everything ready.

I just hope I can keep the size of the document down.

Probably a good idea. As much as it was my plan to keep concise, I'm afraid that going overboard with information is my besetting problem when explaining things.

I know how that goes... but I've also had to deal with enough clients to know how to cut it down for the layperson.

Your profession requires a lot of explanations, then? You're a lot more patient than I am, I'd probably go screamingly mad after the fifth obvious question or so.

I'm a programmer. My clients are not always the most... technologically inclined.

Ah. Yes, I... believe I'd be in their shoes in any sort of discussion like that. I was rather technologically savvy in my own world, but this is leaps and bounds ahead of anything we had, and three years just hasn't been long enough to catch up.

That's fine. This world has a lot of technology that seems advanced for me, at least to be in widespread use, but it's also less dependent on technology in other ways.

Speaking of which, it's probably best if we assume they won't know most of the functions of the Pokegear for a while, as well.

That's true. I can draw up a visual guide, or ask someone at work who designs the ads to do it.

Good idea. Someone else mentioned printing things out and making a sort of bulletin board in town, but I don't know who I'd have to ask for permission for something like that.

I... have no idea. I have no idea who even runs the towns.

I don't actually think anyone knows. I've been here three years and I've never heard mention of mayors or the like.

Exactly. It's very frustrating, actually.

When it comes to trying to get information out of this world, "frustrating" is the operative word.

Well, I have other things to worry about here, like baking things for work.

Ah, no, not at all. I meant aside from digging through mysteries. We can have some semblance of a normal life here. And while I'll admit that I'm curious... the day to day things sometimes take priority over chasing down mysteries. For now, at least.

Ah, yes, that makes sense. I'm currently living off the funds I gain from winning battles with the native trainers.

It's... surprisingly lucrative. At least if you travel a lot.

I don't. Not yet, at least. I should find some time to travel around... though I might need some Pokemon that are better for traveling on.

That shouldn't be too difficult, given how many there are that can serve as vehicles. Of course, there's nothing saying you have to go anywhere if you'd rather not.

That's true. And that's one of the things I like most about this place - so many choices.
