So, we're in the first week of the new month and we'll probably be getting new people for a while... and it's occurred to me that there's something about that I've been thinking about for some time now, but have never really addressed.

[Twilight folds her arms a bit, frowning in consideration at the screen.]

Most of us ought to know by now about the helpful guide that Riku, the owner of the training center and the new breeding center, wrote about this world some time ago. It's still a useful resource despite needing some updating, and it's where I got the seed of my idea, but it's a bit... oversized for a newcomer, no offense Riku.

Is there a way to maybe... [She pauses a moment to grope for words.] Create some sort of collective document where we all put in our thoughts on what a new arrival should know about this world right away? Something simple and straightforward, that gives them a grounding point for their first few days. I always worry I've forgotten to mention something important when I talk to someone new, and I think that's a problem we all share. This could fix that, and give them a bit of a leg up in adapting to this world. And as long as we all know about it we can be sure someone's going to show it to them when they arrive.

It might not seem like much, but if you think back on how we all felt when we first arrived, I think most of us would have really liked something like that to at least be available.

A full-time job and a hobby. No wonder you have so little time for traveling.

My current project has been trying to solve compatibility issues between my computer and the software here. Mine showed up so I can at least keep it up and running, but some of the software just doesn't match up, so I can't transfer files. And it's not as if I can simply download the appropriate programs, since they don't exist here.

... But I'll think of something, even if I have to rewrite things from scratch. It's not that big of a deal.

Ah. Well that was an easy to understand metaphor, at least.

My Magnezone, Tesla. It speaks in a way that none of my other Pokemon can decipher, even my psychic-types.

Ah. I don't have one of those, though it looks interesting.

It was one of the first ones I caught. I found its evolutionary line utterly fascinating, though it seems almost criminally underused.

The first Pokemon I caught was a Murkrow, and I use an Arbok a lot. Neither of them are Pokemon that I see a lot of people using.

I think the native trainers use those a lot more than we do...

True. I don't battle other trainers very much. Most of our training is more practical and against the wild Pokemon we find.

Wherease I like to take on other trainers for the additional challenge... well, there was a time when it was a challenge, at least. Sort of.

I'm a Breeder, not a Trainer, so battling isn't as important to me.

That would explain it.

Though frankly I'm just as glad I'm not in your shoes. Some of mine... well I'll be perfectly happy if I never get any eggs from them.

There's some of mine that I don't know if I can let them breed. They still seem a bit too innocent.

That's true. They just act more childlike than I would expect of a... creature capable of those sorts of feelings towards another. Though I suppose it doesn't have to be that kind of bond for them to mate.

Well, we don't know much about Pokemon mating... it's not like we can observe it the way we can with animals. Whatever images we may have in our minds could be completely wrong.

After all, even the sexless can mate, if you have a ditto.

Oh, I know. It's just... strange to think of the more innocent ones mating. Speaking as someone with a younger sibling, it's a bit unsettling in some ways.

Not that I'll stop them if they decide to do it.

I guess the only advice I can really give is to keep an open mind and try not to think about it too hard.

I realize that second part is a lot easier said than done.

I do think about everything too hard, it's true. Sometimes it's helpful, but... not now.

Well, you're hardly the only one with that problem, if it makes you feel any better.
