24th Spell: [Video]

Why is there no map for this place... You know, I think that's a project that really needs to be undertaken. Maps of all the various caaaaaaaaa- oof!

[Stepping onto one of the ice-covered floors that covers the ice path, Twilight is interrupted by suddenly slipping and sliding all the way over to the wall on the opposite side, which she crashes headlong into.]

Urgh... that was unpleasant. Alright, just need to pay a bit more attention, let's tryyyyyyy- argh!

[Another step has her legs slipping straight out from under her, and she slides across to another corner of the room on her knees, face first. After a highly unpleasant sounding crash, she lets out a low groan and slides down the wall until she's face down, making highly unhappy noises.]

I. Hate. This. Cave.

[As if to add insult to injury, the Pokemon who's been holding the gear this whole time proceeds to step out onto the ice and easily slide its way over to its hapless trainer, holding out the gear.]

What? Oh just... just shut it off, Champ. I don't even want to worry about that map idea until I'm out of this place, now. Oh, my head...

I suppose it doesn't, unfortunately. Still, even though it wasn't for that long, it was nice for things to be back to normal.

I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I feel like the castle probably did have something to do with it, but there isn't any way I can prove it.

Some irritating girl who decided she was best friends with one of my Pokemon. I have no idea what her name is, just that she's positively incorrigible.

He's an Archeops who's been teaching himself to type, actually. I'd find it remarkable if it wasn't being used for such pointless ends.

Hm... she's blonde and... well, I can't say much about her physical appearance, because the fact that she's just utterly bizarre is more striking than anything else. She seems as though she only has the most basic understanding of normal human interaction, and even then I'm skeptical.

That's... actually very impressive, especially considering he has to do it with talons.

I hate to tell you this, but I think that describes entirely too many people I've met here and back home. [Though back home it would be pony interaction, but... again, not the point.] Blonde, bizarre, talks to Pokemon, interacts with other humans oddly... Okay, well aside from Applejack I don't actually know anyone like that, and AJ's no thief, so we must not be familiar.

It really is. He seems to take an interest in technology in general, which is a bit ironic given that he's one of the prehistoric Pokemon --- hatched from an egg, actually. I suppose he was somehow both born in the wrong and right time simultaneously.

...no, thinking about it, that is true. She's... very easy to recognize if you're familiar with her, but it's hard to describe her in a way that makes her distinct from all the other oddballs here.

Well, I'll keep my eyes open regardless. Maybe I'll get lucky and stumble across her. If I do, I promise to let you know first thing.

I would certainly appreciate that. Admittedly, I would ask you not to enact any sort of retribution on my behalf.

No, I'll leave that sort of thing to you. Vengeance isn't precisely my... style, I guess?

I presumed so, but I figured I'd tell you, just in case.

...Anyway, where was I --- ah, yes, from memory, there was a fair bit of... well, I'm not sure if information is the word, exactly. More like... trappings of various myths and legends I've read about here, but mostly those of Sinnoh.

Sinnoh? The region with Dialga, Palkia, and that... what's the third one again, there was so little information about it...

Yes, exactly. ... and no, I have difficulty remembering that one, as well --- I just remember that according to legend, it was apparently sealed off in some other world connected more intimately to this one than most.

...which makes me wonder if it had to deal with everything we went through, come to think of it.

That... does sound suspicious. But why was it sealed? And by whom? Dialga and Palkia themselves, perhaps?

They seem like the only ones who would have the power to do so... and yet, I'm still not entirely sure if they're the ones I should suspect.

I found several iterations of a creation myth, though... so perhaps that creator is behind it? I'll confess, I haven't actually read anything like it before.

The Creator... a Pokemon itself, who shaped this world. If that myth is true it really does explain so much. Except, oddly enough, where the humans of this world came from and what their role in all this is.

We've never really been given concrete proof that the humans here aren't descended from Pokemon. It would honestly make more sense than anything else.

Well, I can't really argue the point. Though there are a few questions that raises, like why all, or at least most Pokemon can communicate with each other, but most can't speak human language. Or why humans are the only ones who have developed technology when Pokemon like Alakazam exist, if they evolved concurrently.

It's true --- humans do seem to be set apart, for whatever reason. I would imagine there's some myth that has more basis in truth than one would expect in some region's mythology that explains it, but I haven't found it yet.

I think I heard a bit about the Sinnoh region having more myths that dealt with the relationships between humans and Pokemon as a whole, but like most things from that region details are sketchy at best.

...There were quite a few of those in the castle, actually, mostly having to do with exacting tolls and generally providing a very unsettling picture of things.

Tolls? That sounds... ominous, especially considering the rest of what you told me.

No, it... really was, particularly after the place actively started trying to kill us.

...It didn't make its attempts with Pokemon, mind, which is really the strangest part.

That is strange. Could whatever it did use have any sort of analogue to Pokemon attacks, at least? Or was this completely outside of the usual rules of this world?

Not at all, actually. Honestly, the closest thing I could compare the... forces it sent against us to would be the Pokemon Zoroark, but even then, it was different. It seems as though they had illusionary forms that looked different to everyone who viewed them.

They looked different to everyone... Given the time this happened, would I be correct in assuming they always resembled something the person in question would fear greatly?

Not... universally, no. A friend I spoke to about it didn't seem terribly afraid of what hers turned into... they were just common enemies, I believe.

Mine were a bit unsettling, but they weren't terribly distinct. I couldn't exactly make out the shape of them.
