24th Spell: [Video]

Why is there no map for this place... You know, I think that's a project that really needs to be undertaken. Maps of all the various caaaaaaaaa- oof!

[Stepping onto one of the ice-covered floors that covers the ice path, Twilight is interrupted by suddenly slipping and sliding all the way over to the wall on the opposite side, which she crashes headlong into.]

Urgh... that was unpleasant. Alright, just need to pay a bit more attention, let's tryyyyyyy- argh!

[Another step has her legs slipping straight out from under her, and she slides across to another corner of the room on her knees, face first. After a highly unpleasant sounding crash, she lets out a low groan and slides down the wall until she's face down, making highly unhappy noises.]

I. Hate. This. Cave.

[As if to add insult to injury, the Pokemon who's been holding the gear this whole time proceeds to step out onto the ice and easily slide its way over to its hapless trainer, holding out the gear.]

What? Oh just... just shut it off, Champ. I don't even want to worry about that map idea until I'm out of this place, now. Oh, my head...

[Riku stays silent at first, soaking in everything Twilight's said. Princesses controlling the sun and the moon... The first question that pops into is head is how that affect's the planet's rotation. He even opens his mouth for a moment, tempted to voice his question, but he waits, taking in the rest of her descriptions.

Ponies controlling the skies, caring for wild animals, and casting huge spells, all in the regulation of their world?

Riku laughs, a wry smile crossing his lips.]

Man, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were talking about Legendary Pokémon.

[Marcia lets out a sigh, trying to think of something she could offer as advice, but without magyk she really just doesn't know.]

I take it you didn't bring any snow shoes, did you? They would give your feet a better grip on the ground, I imagine.

Well, at least I have something resembling a plan now. I'm gonna sign off and try to get back to moving. Hopefully the next time I use this thing I'll be outside again.

Princesses Celestia and Luna are probably equal in power to at least a few of the Legendaries. Maybe not the likes of Dialga and Palkia, but Ho-oh and Lugia, yes.

The rest of the phenomena are more due to teamwork than sheer power, though.

Snow shoes? No, I didn't. I saw a pair of ice cleats being advertised in Mahogany, but I never went to actually get them.

I'm kind of regretting that now.

To a certain extent, yes. You wouldn't want to bring, say, a grass-type out into this cave, for example. But they can be remarkably adaptable.

Still, stuff like that's practically unheard of in my world. Try to push a cloud, and you'd just pass right through it...

[And destroying them? That'd take some powerful wind, to say the least.]

Well that's true for most ponies as well. Pegasi just channel magic energy that way, with control over the weather, the way Unicorns can make our own phenomena and Earth Ponies can enhance their stamina and attune themselves to the land for truly amazing agricultural skills and the like.

I'm not really good at those. If Fluttershy were still here...

[Marcia hums thoughtfully. She hates thinking in terms of how weird this place is, but sometimes you just have to adapt to the impossible.]

I've heard there's a mail service here. So many more implausible things are possible, so do you think the mail service might deliver inside of a cave?

That's the general gist of things, yes. Honestly, the vague nightmare creature wasn't actually that bad, given that we were actually given our original abilities back for a certain time for... some reason.

Interestingly enough, when I woke up, one of the Pokemon that I'd been able to find had a different ability than he had before --- one that's far more interesting than the other one, to be precise.

But, well, as to the actual castle itself... there was actually a fair bit of interesting information in there. Unfortunately, someone stole my original Pokegear and none of my other notes seemed able to be transferred back into the... 'real' world, so I'm going to have to go on memory.

[Sigh. It's one of those things he can't fully relate to yet, coming from the past.]

If your Pokemon can get around without slipping too much, maybe you can get around with them. At least you'll have support from them so you won't fall as much.

Well, you do what you have to. I've never denied that I wouldn't love to have my body and my power back, but I've treated this as a learning experience, and there's a lot to be said for this world as a whole, really.

You know I actually wouldn't be surprised. Maybe they have Pokemon specially designed to fly deliveries into one, or people who can run fast enough to get your order there in almost no time.

The latter probably wouldn't be a good idea in this cave admittedly. [And the former might make use of the Zubat line...]

Your abilities returned? Now that is interesting... but then again, if it involved dreams it doesn't necessarily have to conform to the rules of this world.

A new ability based on what happened in the castle, or just new with no logic as to what caused it?

[She looks down at the ice with a grimace.]

I hope so too, you have no idea how much. I really do not want to have to actually camp in here, it's freezing.

I suppose it doesn't, unfortunately. Still, even though it wasn't for that long, it was nice for things to be back to normal.

I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I feel like the castle probably did have something to do with it, but there isn't any way I can prove it.

Some irritating girl who decided she was best friends with one of my Pokemon. I have no idea what her name is, just that she's positively incorrigible.

Shoes probably don't have as much traction as bare skin, but I wouldn't really recommend traveling through ice with bare feet. [Falling a bunch is probably more desirable than frostbite.]

That doesn't sound really fun. Do you have camping gear that can handle that kind of temperature?
