[Wrapped up in the snuggest winter coat she could find and a decent muffler, Twilight thought she'd been fairly well prepared for the rigors of flying on dragonback in winter.

She was wrong. As Spike touches down outside of the entrance to the Violet City Pokemon Center, she's shaking like a leaf from the cold. Maybe it's just that she had him fly so fast... or, well, the weather and how high they'd been in the air probably had something to do with it, too. Either way, she's still frigid, and she doubts her friend sitting behind her is doing any better.]

Th-th-th-thank you, S-S-Spike. [She slides off his back, wincing a little as her legs make it plain how upset they are at her for keeping them in a riding position for so long. She staggers a bit, leaning against her Dragonite before she gets her balance and offers a hand to Fluttershy.]

C-c-come o-o-on. L-l-lets get inside q-q-quickly.

[Once Fluttershy is off and a tired looking Spike is returned to his ball, they quickly make their way inside where it's blessedly warm. One drop off of their Pokemon to be treated later, and Twilight's sitting in a chair with her Pokegear on, ready to ask an important question.]

So, what's the best way to keep yourself warm while flying on Pokeback in the middle of winter? I bundled up to what I thought was a decent amount, but I'm still freezing!

Also, Fluttershy and I are now in Violet, where we'll be staying until... probably the new year, at least. We're hoping to see you soon, Rainbow.

Ever tried flying on an Altaria? They're pretty damn comfortable, even in cold weather.

[You'd think the first suggestion would be about clothing, but who needs that when you're flying on a fluffy cotton cloud?]

That would involve having an Altaria or a Swablu. I rode on a Dragonite.

[Well, that's the same typing, anyway...]

I suppose it's a good reason to think of either fliers to try, though I don't think my Sigilyph would be any better, and there's no way I'm trying it with Echo.

[Crow tenses up visibly at the mention of Sigilyph and frowns a bit. Not his favorite Pokémon species, that one.]

... Can't blame ya for that. I wouldn't try flying on a Sigilyph if they paid me for it.

[But let's leave that and go back to the original topic, um.]

A Dragonite, huh? With the speed they can fly at, it's no wonder you got cold. Sounds like you'll have to make sure you're wearing tons of warm clothes or ask your Pokémon to fly a bit slower next time!

It's true that he was flying at pretty much top speed the whole way... I have no one but myself to blame for that, though.

[She's honestly not sure why she was in such a rush to get to Violet, really. It's not like Rainbow's even here yet.]

It's strange. I think when I flew on that borrowed Pidgeot to Goldenrod when I first got here, I was a lot less cold... I mean, yes the Pidgeot had feathers, but I wasn't as bundled up. You'd figure it would even out.

It's not as much fun if you fly slowly, though!

[Seriously, if you're going to fly, you've gotta do it as fast as possible!]

Dunno, you might be onto something with the feathers thing. I mean, I like flying on Rainbow -- my Dragonite, that is -- just fine, but traveling on Gale, my Pidgeot, is more comfortable... especially in this weather.

It's hard to have fun when your teeth are chattering and your fingers are numb.
