[Wrapped up in the snuggest winter coat she could find and a decent muffler, Twilight thought she'd been fairly well prepared for the rigors of flying on dragonback in winter.

She was wrong. As Spike touches down outside of the entrance to the Violet City Pokemon Center, she's shaking like a leaf from the cold. Maybe it's just that she had him fly so fast... or, well, the weather and how high they'd been in the air probably had something to do with it, too. Either way, she's still frigid, and she doubts her friend sitting behind her is doing any better.]

Th-th-th-thank you, S-S-Spike. [She slides off his back, wincing a little as her legs make it plain how upset they are at her for keeping them in a riding position for so long. She staggers a bit, leaning against her Dragonite before she gets her balance and offers a hand to Fluttershy.]

C-c-come o-o-on. L-l-lets get inside q-q-quickly.

[Once Fluttershy is off and a tired looking Spike is returned to his ball, they quickly make their way inside where it's blessedly warm. One drop off of their Pokemon to be treated later, and Twilight's sitting in a chair with her Pokegear on, ready to ask an important question.]

So, what's the best way to keep yourself warm while flying on Pokeback in the middle of winter? I bundled up to what I thought was a decent amount, but I'm still freezing!

Also, Fluttershy and I are now in Violet, where we'll be staying until... probably the new year, at least. We're hoping to see you soon, Rainbow.

Speaking of which, last time we talked you mentioned you'd found five pokemon you were interested in. I assume Squirtle and Pichu were two of them, but I never did find out what the other three were. So what caught your eye?

Hehe, yeah it totally is.

Oh, the other Pokemon! Yeah Squirtle and Pichu were 2 but...let's see: I mentioned I wanted Ponyta awhile back, thought a Chikorita looked cool and after a few glances figured maybe a Psyduck even if he looks anything but radical.

(She's trying not to be so short-sighted.)

Hmmm, none of those three should be too hard to get. Except maybe the Chikorita. They're fairly rare. I'll keep an eye on the network for you, maybe there'll be someone selling them.

Yep! But I can teach them different based variety attacks, can't I? Riku told me I could look at something called a Move Tester.

It's not that complicated once you get the basics down. I'll teach you once you get here.

Tutor. Move tutor. You know, like a one-on-one, personal teacher who helps you out in a subject you're having trouble in. I never had one personally, but some of the other students in the School for Gifted Unicorns did.

Of course, the word seems to mean something different in Johto. They're people who wander around looking for Pokemon to teach moves that they know to. Why? I have no idea.

(She acknowledges Twilight's first comment with a grin and a nod. The rest? She zones in and out on, only catching words like 'move tutor...never had one...wanders around looking for Pokemon.')

They're actually very determined to teach their moves. The one I ran into positively demanded that I let him teach Starswirl headbutt. That's how I got Megasoma, actually.

[You'd think she'd expect it by now, but she's completely missed the fact that Rainbow heard maybe a third of her explanation.]

...So, you taught your Pokemon Headbutt and that's how you caught another Pokemon?

(And most likely 1/2 of the latter part. She did hear 'very determined to teach.')

That's right. Apparently, if you headbutt certain trees, Pokemon will fall out of them.

No, shaking the trees in some other way doesn't work. And yes, I'm aware that doesn't make any sense.

(Okay, she's paying attention again.)

Seriously? It's gotta be Headbutt and no other types of moves will work?!

Exactly. And again, no, I don't know why. You'd think a Mega Kick or something like that would work too, but no. Only Headbutt.

Aww! (She sighs lightly, only somewhat annoyed.)

I guess I could teach Tank Headbutt. That's Squirtle's new name, btw.

That doesn't surprise me all that much... though I feel the need to point out that Squirtle's a turtle and Tank's a tortoise.

Whatever. (She always called Tank a turtle, so this time it's actually legit.)

If I'd wanted a tortoise I might've suggested Turtwig instead, but I didn't even know what type a Turtwig was until you told me last time.

If you look up Torterra, you might regret not getting a Turtwig... though Blastoise is pretty impressive too.

Eh, I'll look up the other Pokemon on the road. It'll give me something to do since I can't flip or practice against any trees this close to Violet.

It's big enough for a tree to grow out of its shell.
