4th Spell: [Voice/Action only for Ecruteak]

[The gear clicks on to reveal Twilight sitting next to a hospital bed, staring intently at a sleeping Fluttershy. She turns to the camera right away, concern and questions in her expression.]

Hey... does anyone have any advice for taking care of a person in a coma?

[Realizing pretty quickly how worrisome this sounds, she quickly amends her statement.]

Don't worry too much, I'm pretty sure this is just the result of her gaining new memories from our home... it happened to another friend of mine a while ago. But her body still needs to be taken care of while that's happening, and if what I heard from the others last time is accurate, that'll take about a week. So I'd like to know as much as I can.

And while I'm at it, has this happened to anyone else here, or a friend? I'd appreciate anyone willing to share their experiences.

Oh, and to any other friends of Fluttershy... she'll be back soon, I promise.

I'm sure there's a rational explanation... somehow. I just can't even begin to figure out where to start looking for it.

Half of the stuff here has no rational explanation though, why should this be any different?

No. [There's not just steel in her voice, there's adamantium.] Everything has a rational explanation. We just don't know what it is yet.

Isn't rational relative to what you're used to in your world though?

[Voice]

Sort of. It's also relative to how much you can break down the causes into something that makes sense to your worldview.

For example: The magic I use back home probably wouldn't seem rational to someone from a world like this one, but with proper explanation as to how it functions and the forces behind it, I'm positive I could make it make perfect sense even to someone for whom "magic" is just a fairytale.

[Voice]

That's true.

... Provided that the proper explanations don't need more explanations that need more explanations to make sense.

[Voice]

The proper explanations always lead to more questions that need new explanations. That's what Science is all about!

[One can practically hear the capitalization of the word "science" in Twilight's voice. Kind of an amusing viewpoint for a magical unicorn, but Twilight's always been kind of strange that way.]

[Voice]

And then those explanations need more explanations over and over again?

[Voice]

Of course! And on and on ad infinitum! That's the joy of discovery, of research! Discovering new solutions, new puzzles, new mysteries, all at once!

[Oh boy, now she's on a roll.]

[Voice]

I guess. I'm not really much of a scientist though.

[Voice]

[She chuckles a bit at that.]

Well, it's not for everyone. I'll admit it can get kind of frustrating sometimes, when you can't figure out the next part of the answer.

Yeah. Back home we usually left figuring out what's going on to the people who wanted to know absolutely everything ever.
