Good morning, everyone. I'd like to talk to you all about competition.

I don't have to tell you about the usual way people compete in this world, I mean we're saturated in it every day we're here. But what if, say, you have a Pokemon who doesn't really like to fight? Or you don't enjoy battling them? Or for that matter what if you just want another option aside from Pokemon battling? Most Pokemon, and for that matter a lot of us as well, still enjoy a good competitive atmosphere, so what's the solution?

Well, me and my friend Korra hit on an idea last month. Some of you might have seen the post she made about that snow creation she and her Pokemon made using nothing but various moves from their arsenals and the surrounding materials. So we got to thinking, what's stopping us from making that into some sort of event? Creative team-building exercises for our Pokemon and ourselves that we can show off the results of, maybe even submit them for judging if some of us want to be on a panel. And that's just the beginning! We could make an entire set of sports around this if we put our minds to it, I'm quite sure.

This is really just the seed of an idea, and I'll be honest, it'll take a lot of effort and interest to get anything out of it, but it was just something I really thought should be brought up to the regions as a whole. At this point we are still very much in the brainstorming part of things, so if anything I've said has sparked an idea with you, let's hear it! And I encourage discussion in the middle of this post.

Heh. I'd be down for some racing, but would there be limits? Land Pokémon? Flyers? Swimmers? Not to mention that some Pokémon have a natural speed advantage that puts them ahead of the rest.

I'd split it into categories, one for land racing, one for flight, additional separate categories for mounted races in both, one with pokemon pulling vehicles trainers are sitting in, and probably more variations beyond that. As for the other issue, we can probably solve that the same way they do back home, by dividing races into sprints and endurance runs.

Yeah, that could do it. Would there be races for smaller Pokémon, too? Ones where it's just monster against monster. Maybe something for baby Pokémon, since I know at least some people prefer to keep theirs small.

Wow, with all these possible categories for just races alone I'm starting to wonder if there's any point to having other events.

Well, no, that's not true. I'm more wondering if we'll have any leftover judges for the other events.

Heh, I'm sure there is. I'm just being overly analytical because there's a lot you could do.

Could always have different events at different times so you don't spread things too thin, though.

I think we'll have to do that, if for no other reason than the amount of room we'll have. I still don't know where we'd be holding this, for that matter.

Well, if you need the space, I could always open up the Training Center. Don't know how well it'd work for outdoor events, but it's a start, right?

Thanks, Riku. I'm not sure if I'll take you up on that or not, but it's great to have another option, at the very least.

Really though, if you know of a good open air area which wouldn't be too negatively affected by us all climbing all over it to set these events up, I think that would be even better. Someplace that's not hard to get to, but where not many people go, would be ideal.

Hmm... Ever thought of using the Safari Zone? I'm not sure how feasible it'd be, since that's not its purpose, but you could always talk to the staff there. See if you can set something up.

Now that's an interesting idea. It's worth a shot, at least. I'll write it down, the worst thing they can tell us is no.

Exactly. Otherwise, there's always Mt. Moon, Seafoam, your pick of any of the forests around here...

Well, assuming there aren't legal pitfalls to deal with.

I'm sure I can find out whether there are or not. Those are all great ideas, Riku! The only problem I can see is that some of them are a bit remote, but if we have enough people with fliers willing to help other people get out there, that shouldn't be insurmountable.

Heh. It'd help if teleportation wasn't such a hassle to work with. Or if we had a private jet...

Gotta wonder why vehicles are so scarce in the first place. Seems like they're restricted to Rockets, cops, and celebrities.

That is weird. I mean with the amount of money some of us have saved up you'd think we could buy some sort of transportation aside from tickets on the Magnet Train.

Or the S.S. Anne. That's about the only other option we've got.

Honestly, the fact that so much is out of reach for us is kinda unfair when you think about it. We've established ourselves over all these years, so you'd think there'd be more venues for us than collecting badges and selling eggs.

To be fair, immigration policy can be very slow and difficult to change with people coming in from other countries, legally. I don't even want to know how many laws were violated with us just suddenly popping up. We probably still don't even qualify as legal residents of Johto or Kanto.

Huh. I didn't even think about immigration...

You know, I wonder how the legal system even works here. About the only trace of one we ever see are the cops. No politicians, no courts... It's pretty weird.

There aren't even legal texts in the libraries. I've checked. And let's not forget that the punishment for apparently every crime is community service.

Ugh, seriously. I'm amazed they haven't improved the legal system after all the bombings those Rockets have pulled over the years.

They don't seem to be much for progress in general, really.
