So, we're in the first week of the new month and we'll probably be getting new people for a while... and it's occurred to me that there's something about that I've been thinking about for some time now, but have never really addressed.

[Twilight folds her arms a bit, frowning in consideration at the screen.]

Most of us ought to know by now about the helpful guide that Riku, the owner of the training center and the new breeding center, wrote about this world some time ago. It's still a useful resource despite needing some updating, and it's where I got the seed of my idea, but it's a bit... oversized for a newcomer, no offense Riku.

Is there a way to maybe... [She pauses a moment to grope for words.] Create some sort of collective document where we all put in our thoughts on what a new arrival should know about this world right away? Something simple and straightforward, that gives them a grounding point for their first few days. I always worry I've forgotten to mention something important when I talk to someone new, and I think that's a problem we all share. This could fix that, and give them a bit of a leg up in adapting to this world. And as long as we all know about it we can be sure someone's going to show it to them when they arrive.

It might not seem like much, but if you think back on how we all felt when we first arrived, I think most of us would have really liked something like that to at least be available.

If all other options fall through, I'll do that myself. It won't be ideal, but hopefully with a great deal of editing I can cut things down to a more manageable size without sacrificing any truly vital data once everyone has their thoughts in.

...Should you have to take on that duty, I apologize in advance for all I'll have to say. My first impressions of this world are greatly outdated, but I've still a few tricks to share.

If anything, I welcome the amount of information to sift through. A lot of it will need to be cut down, though.

That's likely to be the hardest part, by far. There is much about this world that newcomers should learn about as quickly as possible, and what anyone considers to be most important also depends on the sort of world they come from.

I was kind of amazed by how many people placed emphasis on the ledges when I showed up, to be honest. I understand that they're bizarre, but you'd figure after a few minutes all but the most stubborn would give up trying to scale them.

The most stubborn are the reason for the multiple warnings; there were broken limbs involved, back when I first arrived.

... What.

Determination is a wonderful quality to possess, but so are moderation, common sense and self-preservation. And yet...

[Ah, the stories he could tell.]

Determination needs to be properly channeled to be a virtue. Otherwise it's just simple obstinance.

[One could argue that's true of anything, but she's feeling dumbfounded right now, not philosophical.]

I haven't heard of anyone doing that recently, at least...

Years of prevention and shared information can do wonders, truly; even the number of Gyarados attacks has fallen. Which is why guides and long-term visitors are so essential for newcomers.

And we come right back to the original topic.

I'm still not entirely sure how relevant it's going to be, but you've certainly convinced me to think about the ledge issue a lot more than I ever have before. Another thing for the miscellaneous section I suppose. I hope it doesn't get too bloated.

If it does, there's always the option of... ballot points, I believe the locals call them? They greatly simplify documents, when properly used, and clean up their presentation nicely.

Bullet points? Yes, I'd planned on using those to help keep it from getting too cluttered.

I've also divided it into different sections. I have "first questions", "about your Pokemon", "about this world", and "miscellaneous", so far.

...I imagine the safety warnings would be part of the miscellaneous section? It'd be the most fitting...

I was thinking that, yes. Point of fact they're the only information in that section right now.

With any luck, it'll not be the longest in the end, but a part of me would not be surprised if that was the case.

I suppose we'll see. Do you have any other suggestions you want to give right now?

...Should 'Mother's' lunch run out, grass is edible and safer to consume than wild berries. Too many people are unaware of that.

Now that's something they probably wouldn't hear normally. I'm used to eating grass but I know you humans usually aren't.

It's far from the most filling meal, and frankly I don't find the taste particularly pleasant. But it's still a great step up from the side effects that come with eating a Persim berry.

Eating bark would be preferable to that.

Ah, bark. I've not eaten that since survival training, but I'd still choose it over any local fruit I do not recognize.

You'd think that would be common knowledge... still, since it isn't, I'll have to mention it. I imagine most people won't make it to Cherrygrove on the food they arrive with.

Especially not if they share their lunches with their Pokémon. You'd think 'Mother' would care enough to ensure we are well-fed for a few days.

Well, given how the rest of her mind operates, maybe she thinks the trip can be made in a single day. It's not like she ever leaves New Bark herself.
