[The video clicks on with a view of a Magnezone hovering over the long grass, peering around as though looking for something. After several moments, it turns back to the gear and shakes its body back and forth, looking remarkably like a shaking head.]

Well, it's not surprising. I did have to search for weeks to find you, after all.

[The Magnezone bleeps unintelligibly at the gear. Even those who can understand Pokemon (and other Pokemon themselves) will only hear noises that sound oddly like R2-D2.]

Maybe someone else has one you can talk to. [The gear turns around to show Twilight's face.] A question. Well, two. First off, who out there has a Pokemon from the Magnemite line? And second, does anyone else have... trouble communicating with them? Of course most of us can't understand Pokemon when they talk, but even my other Pokemon can't seem to understand anything Tesla has to say. Are there other Magnemites who seem to have that issue? For that matter, other Pokemon in general? It's something I've never even heard of before.

Hmmm... and on a more general topic, here's something I've been wondering about for a while. If you were to take six Pokemon, start them at level one, and try to train them together as a coherent team, which ones would you pick? I've been considering the idea for a while now, and while I'm not certain it's practical to start right now I'd like to start gathering input.

It's an interesting phenomenon, there. They're rare in nature, but I think they're so popular among those who've been brought to this world that we've bred much, much more of them than appear to hatch in the wild.

To be fair, that seems a bit mundane compared to the fact that we effectively have a dedicated effort to bring back Pokemon that have been dead for millions of years... and that's discounting the ones that we'll obtain when we get around to reviving the fossils we obtained during that incident two months ago.

Also true. If the concept of Extinction has an incarnation in this world, it must be furious right now.

[And knowing the Pokeworld, that's entirely possible...]

For all we know, it just may. Well, I'm sure that if that is the case, it's probably in some other region that we'll never be able to visit.

Though, there's the chance that it might be able to visit us...

[Why do these conversations keep going in absolutely terrifying directions?]

I'd be more worried about that if it weren't for the fact that there seems to be something keeping us and our Pokemon from dying.

...of course, who knows if it would be able to override that, but that would just raise more questions than answers.

Well, those sort of Pokemon tend to come in pairs or trios, right? So if there was a Legendary of Extinction or Death or the like, there would have to be an equally powerful Legendary of... Life, perhaps.

That would make sense, actually. I'm aware that Ho-oh is known to have resurrected the legendary beasts, so I was always operating under the assumption that was involved somehow... but would that really count? The myths don't seem quite that all-encompassing.

It's really hard to say. Ho-oh seems to have only done that once, under very special conditions. I don't know that there's any precedent for any Pokemon that can resist death on such a wide scale... but there are probably dozens of regions we know nothing about.

For all we know, there may have been other events that were lost to history... but you are right that it makes it unlikely to have true dominion over the aspect of life.

Oh, most definitely. I really do have to wonder what's in some of them... there are a few that I've been able to find the names of, but nothing else. For all we know, there are more out there that we haven't even been able to find the names of.

Well, there is an entire world out there. If it's anywhere near as big as the ones we came from, I don't know how we'd discover everything.

Oh, of course. ...still, though, you'd expect there to be more information on other inhabited regions of this world for academic purposes, commercial purposes, cultural purposes, or even entertainment purposes.

They do seem strangely insular. Kanto and Johto are decently linked together, but it's so rare to even hear news from the other regions. Countries in your world didn't tend to just... ignore what happened outside their own borders, did they?

I wouldn't say it's something that's ever happened, but it's exceedingly rare, particularly in my era. It'd be one thing if this place seemed entirely backwards, but that clearly isn't the case.

I guess most Equestrians probably didn't think too much about what happened in say, Gryphonia. But we had diplomats and traveling salespeople and the like, so it wasn't like it was hard to get news if you were actually interested in it.

Stranger still, the regions don't even seem to be separate governments. Then again, I've never seen any government bodies in this world higher than city level, unless you count the Pokemon League.

I've been getting some indications that the scarcity of information may be at least partially due to an exaggerated sense of self-importance, so for all we know, we could be missing out on travelers from other regions. Provided they exist, of course.

The Pokemon League seems more like a glorified sporting association. ...then again, given that everyone's lives here seem to revolve around said sport, it's not really that far fetched to assume that it's the closest thing to a government this place has.
