[The video clicks on with a view of a Magnezone hovering over the long grass, peering around as though looking for something. After several moments, it turns back to the gear and shakes its body back and forth, looking remarkably like a shaking head.]

Well, it's not surprising. I did have to search for weeks to find you, after all.

[The Magnezone bleeps unintelligibly at the gear. Even those who can understand Pokemon (and other Pokemon themselves) will only hear noises that sound oddly like R2-D2.]

Maybe someone else has one you can talk to. [The gear turns around to show Twilight's face.] A question. Well, two. First off, who out there has a Pokemon from the Magnemite line? And second, does anyone else have... trouble communicating with them? Of course most of us can't understand Pokemon when they talk, but even my other Pokemon can't seem to understand anything Tesla has to say. Are there other Magnemites who seem to have that issue? For that matter, other Pokemon in general? It's something I've never even heard of before.

Hmmm... and on a more general topic, here's something I've been wondering about for a while. If you were to take six Pokemon, start them at level one, and try to train them together as a coherent team, which ones would you pick? I've been considering the idea for a while now, and while I'm not certain it's practical to start right now I'd like to start gathering input.

Somehow I don't think riling that one up is a good plan. It sounds about as smart as messing with Dozer.

[She shudders involuntarily at the mention of AJ's Mamoswine.]

(Rainbow shudders for a brief moment herself, and not just because of Applejack's Mamoswine.)

Ha, yeah - and about as smart as messing with Dash while you're on her back...

(She knew it was an accident, but part of Rainbow felt responsible for Spike getting hurt that time since Rapidash was her Pokemon.)

You shouldn't mess with anything while you're on its back. Ever.

[That's just plain old common sense, really.]

(Too bad Spike's Pinchy never had that common sense. More like a case of all brawn and no brains; Rainbow's been known to think so this doesn't apply to her.)

Of course not! Even I know that, and I'm her trainer.

[Oh Pinchy has a brain. It just seems to consist of solely one thought: "Must. Bite. Everything."]

Well, it wasn't Spike's fault either. That Pokemon of his... honestly, I just don't know what to do about him, sometimes. At least he's not as nasty as Dozer.

Well, we could keep him tied up and use Sweet Scent on him over and over. Hehe, maybe the same with Dozer!

(It's not like Pinchy can be tossed into a pen whenever he's like that.)

Dozer can at least be calmed down with a certain type of flower that he really likes. Maybe there's something similar we can do with Pinchy.

If you can find a type of flower that Pinchy won't eat, we can give that a try! 'Til then, I'm gonna have Daring -or any of our other Pokemon that know the move- use Sweet Scent on him.

It doesn't have to be a flower. It can be anything, as long as it calms him down. Do we know anything he doesn't try to attack?

...Not really. All we know is he's super-competitive and will fight any Pokemon in his path. Think we could try a stick?

What, and play fetch with him?

...You said 'anything'! What if it turns out a Voltorb or Electrode can calm him down? Do we catch one?

Well... yes? But maybe also catch another Pokemon that can keep them from exploding. Unless it's the explosions that calm him. Though I don't know if that's even possible.

Yeah...that'd probably make him wanna fight even more!

Or he'd stop because he was unconscious.

Hehehehe! Good one, Twilight. He'd be way easier to handle while unconscious.

He'd probably wake up even grouchier than ever, though. [Sigh.] I don't think there's going to be an easy-fix solution to this one.

(She snorts lightly but nods.) What is with that Pokémon?! I know everyone has different personalities but I thought by now he'd show something besides just enjoying battles.

And hurting things weaker than himself. Pinchy is basically a bully.

(Yep! 100% agreement on that one.) I know Spike's determined to be a good trainer and all, but with a 'Mon like that...!

It's like this world deliberately did everything in its power to give him a hard time doing this. Honestly, Rainbow, I'm not sure what to do.

Too bad we can't just deal with Pinchy like any regular pony who needs a lesson on friendship.

That would require us being able to communicate with him.

... Well, I'll think about it. Maybe I'll figure something out. Let me know if you think of any decent ideas, alright?

Sure thing, Twilight! Spike would do the same for us if we needed help with one of our Pokémon.
