16th Spell: [Video/Action for Goldenrod]
[The feed clicks on to show Twilight hugging what looks like a spaceship with eyes. Looks like her Magneton finally evolved.]
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! Finally, my very own Magnezone!
[She practically giggles in glee, clambering up onto the top of her newly evolved Pokemon with a grin. The Magnezone waits for her to be settled on top of it, and then slowly rises up into the air.]

Megasoma, Snails, what are you two doing with my gear?
[The feed suddenly clicks off.]

Ah... Sir El-Melloi. This is, um... nothing you need concern yourself with. At all. Just a bout of excitement from having my Pokemon evolve, and... a certain personal appeal its form holds for me. I hadn't intended to have it broadcast, but...
[She glares down at her Heracross and Slowpoke.]
It looks like some of my Pokemon had other ideas.

but he's spent six months traveling with a man who takes off his shirt at the slightest provocation and four with a man with the social skills of a rock
at some point
at some point you just learn to accept that everyone around you has some sort of bizarre, embarrassing quirk
it's almost as though he learned a lesson about relating to people who aren't mage association
perhaps if he were some sort of magical horse, he would think this:
dear princess celestia today i realized that i'm okay with being surrounded by people who are absolutely mad
but he is not a magical horse so he doesn't.
what is this place doing to him
god
...so after a withering stare that lasted the entire length of how long it would take a somewhat slow reader to get through this action tag as he processes this revelation...]
...so... I had gathered. About your Pokemon, I mean. I was quite sure this wasn't an intentional broadcast.
[...composure]
What sort of Pokemon is that, anyway? I don't think I've seen... anything like it before now. It looks more like a machine than anything, really...

But fortunately, Kayneth has finally realized something Twilight's known all along...
All the
poniespeople in thistownworld are CRAZY!And she can't help but sigh a bit in relief when she finally hears his response.]
It's called a Magnezone. It's an Electric/Steel type, the final evolution of Magnemite, which you can find along the route between Olivine and Ecruteak. It requires a piece of rock from the Sinnoh Region to reach the final evolution, called a Coronet Rock, which isn't one of the standard evolution stones. As for why it looks like a machine, I would imagine that's related to its typing.

...I suppose that does make a certain amount of sense, yes, though...
Well. I suppose I can't complain given that I didn't have much of a problem with the animate floating mirror, but something about a thing that's so mechanical being a Pokemon bothers me on some level.
...That is an odd evolution method, though. I imagine those must be somewhat difficult to come by, given how bizarrely specific that is.

As for the difficulty in obtaining the stones, the only place they're available is in Goldenrod's department store. Possibly Celadon's, too, I haven't been there to check. I don't know about the stock, but they are quite expensive at fifteen thousand Pokeyen. Of course, as far as I know this evolution method is unique to Magnezone and one other Pokemon, Probopass, so it's unlikely that most trainers would run into this problem.
...So I see. Do these stones have any odd properties that would specifically effect those Pokemon in particular? The price is a bit steep for me to buy one myself, especially since I don't really have any intention of using the Magnemite line and I know very little about Probopass or the Pokemon that evolves into it.

I think an experiment is in order, sometime soon.

Of course, if by some miracle I manage to test it first, I'll be sure to share my findings with you.
