16th Spell: [Video/Action for Goldenrod]

[The feed clicks on to show Twilight hugging what looks like a spaceship with eyes. Looks like her Magneton finally evolved.]

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! Finally, my very own Magnezone!

[She practically giggles in glee, clambering up onto the top of her newly evolved Pokemon with a grin. The Magnezone waits for her to be settled on top of it, and then slowly rises up into the air.]

I am Twilight Sparkle, Captain of the Starship Tesla! Our mission is to search the cosmos for-

For...

Megasoma, Snails, what are you two doing with my gear?

[The feed suddenly clicks off.]
enjoymyatelier: it totally was. (that wasn't awkward at all nope)

[...maybe in April he would have been thoroughly dismissive of all of this and just broken everything off with a snide comment

but he's spent six months traveling with a man who takes off his shirt at the slightest provocation and four with a man with the social skills of a rock

at some point

at some point you just learn to accept that everyone around you has some sort of bizarre, embarrassing quirk

it's almost as though he learned a lesson about relating to people who aren't mage association

perhaps if he were some sort of magical horse, he would think this:

dear princess celestia today i realized that i'm okay with being surrounded by people who are absolutely mad

but he is not a magical horse so he doesn't.

what is this place doing to him

god

...so after a withering stare that lasted the entire length of how long it would take a somewhat slow reader to get through this action tag as he processes this revelation...]

...so... I had gathered. About your Pokemon, I mean. I was quite sure this wasn't an intentional broadcast.

[...composure]

What sort of Pokemon is that, anyway? I don't think I've seen... anything like it before now. It looks more like a machine than anything, really...
enjoymyatelier: sola no (are you... checking him out)

[congrats Kayneth you were not as much of a jerk as you would have been in April

progress]

...I suppose that does make a certain amount of sense, yes, though...

Well. I suppose I can't complain given that I didn't have much of a problem with the animate floating mirror, but something about a thing that's so mechanical being a Pokemon bothers me on some level.

...That is an odd evolution method, though. I imagine those must be somewhat difficult to come by, given how bizarrely specific that is.
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

Surely they must be biological on some level, given that they presumably hatch from eggs like everything else here. However, I have no real idea what that level would be...

...So I see. Do these stones have any odd properties that would specifically effect those Pokemon in particular? The price is a bit steep for me to buy one myself, especially since I don't really have any intention of using the Magnemite line and I know very little about Probopass or the Pokemon that evolves into it.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

I assumed it was something like that, but I didn't know enough about Nosepass and Probopass to say for sure. That is quite fascinating, though-most Pokemon have very straightforward methods of evolution, but some of them are downright bizarre. This at least seems to have a logic to it rather than seeming totally arbitrary, but I'm somewhat baffled as to why some Pokemon need to be traded to evolve, particularly given that there's rarely anything about them that would justify it.

The ones that need items do have a certain amount of justification to them, since the item is usually related to either the Pokemon or the evolution-though it doesn't explain why trading itself is the catalyst for them to activate. Perhaps trading Pokemon causes some sort of energy to be released during the transfer that either causes evolution or reacts with the catalyst?
enjoymyatelier: have fun storming the castle, kayneth (a totally honorable mage duel)

Tell me if you find anything interesting. I have two Pokemon that evolve in that fashion, but they both only require trading after their first evolution and one seems to require an item that I don't have on me at the moment.

Of course, if by some miracle I manage to test it first, I'll be sure to share my findings with you.
