16th Spell: [Video/Action for Goldenrod]

[The feed clicks on to show Twilight hugging what looks like a spaceship with eyes. Looks like her Magneton finally evolved.]

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! Finally, my very own Magnezone!

[She practically giggles in glee, clambering up onto the top of her newly evolved Pokemon with a grin. The Magnezone waits for her to be settled on top of it, and then slowly rises up into the air.]

I am Twilight Sparkle, Captain of the Starship Tesla! Our mission is to search the cosmos for-

Megasoma, Snails, what are you two doing with my gear?

[The feed suddenly clicks off.]

[That just gets a little chuckle.]

I'll do my best. And I'll get my Pokemon to help too. I bet Spike and Megasoma will be really useful.

[She smiles.]

I've got no issue doin' the heavy lifting. You'd probably do better than me on the technical side of things. I reckon you're a lot better with your fingers than I am.

Well I do have experience on my side. Both in using my human body and in the more delicate matters in general. I'm not much of a designer, but I can do the practical parts.

[And if Rarity shows up and has a conniption over the wagon, she can fix it.]

[Celestia knows that wagon would have a paint job and drapes the day she came to Johto.]

Well that sure makes things simpler. I've got plenty of experience with 'em, from fixin' wagons and carts back home on the farm, but this body's givin' me all sorts of trouble.

...An' people look at me funny when I hold a hammer in my mouth.

[She can't help but giggle a little at that last complaint.]

Yeah, that's the sort of thing humans find rather... odd. And really, their mouths aren't built for that sort of thing. You'd knock your teeth out.

I like my teeth just where they are.

[But now she's self-conscious about it. She reaches up and touches her mouth.]

... You haven't lost any, if that's what you're worried about.

That's a relief... I wasn't sure how many humans were supposed t'have.

I think it's thirty-two. But if you were missing any, there'd be a pretty obvious gap, regardless.

I'll be more careful about it. [She sighs.] Bein' human ain't easy.

You'll get used to it.

[Patting her shoulder.] It's just a matter of experience.

I'm willin' to learn anything you wanna teach me.

[It's a lot easier to learn from Twilight than Rainbow, who's been all-too-enthusiastic about showing her how everything works.]

Well, what's giving you the most trouble?

[She's more than happy to do some teaching, but she'll need to have things narrowed down a bit first.]

[She groans.]

It'd be faster to tell ya what I'm not havin' trouble with.

[This is going to to take a while, isn't it?]

Err... okay. Well you seem to have walking down, at least, right?

I'm gettin' the hang of it. I guess... the biggest thing is learnin' how to act. I ain't one to act all formal... but I've never had anypony just stare at me like these folks seem to.

Well, some of that could be the people themselves, I mean, a lot of the natives are just... strange in some ways. But, hmmm... are there certain things you do that, when you're done with them, you find a bunch of people staring at you?

If I knew, I might be able t'do somethin' about it.

[She huffs.] Maybe ponies just ain't supposed to be human.

Well, it's not like any species would react well to suddenly changing into something completely different. Except some insects... and Pokemon.

So you get stared at and you don't know why. Okay, well, let's try to narrow down the possibilities. Do you carry things in your mouth instead of your hands?

...Occasionally.

Well, that would be part of it. Humans have hands and fingers for a reason, Applejack. I know they're difficult to use, but the only thing that's going to make it easier is practice. Think of it like building muscles, you've got to do a whole lot of repetitions before you see any difference, right?

I know, I know... it's just embarrassin' trying t'use my fingers an' they don't work right.

[She sighs.]

I tried goin' to that big shoppin' center in town, buy myself some of those TMs. I couldn't count my money right, so I used my mouth. I... ain't never had so many people stare at me.

[Twilight can't help but wince sympathetically at that. It would be humiliating for anyone to be caught in that kind of situation, much less someone as proud and self-assured as AJ.]

Applejack... [She places a gentle hand on her shoulder.] Hey, it's alright. It'll come to you. You've only been at this about a week and a half, you can't help but have a few setbacks. Even the Princess had them.

[She gives a weak chuckle. Having given her hat to her friend, she uses her hair to hide the redness in her cheek to the best of her abilities. For someone as prideful as Applejack, having to admit your problems is nothing short of embarrassing.]

I... wanna learn.

Well, as long as you want to, I promise you that you can. And I'll do my best to teach you along the way.

[She pats one of the hands that are causing her so much grief, and smiles gently.]
