[She shouldn't be out here. She knows that much. No matter how stir-crazy she was getting inside, she's still sick and she shouldn't be outside wandering around. Fluttershy's going to be furious with her.

And yet, she can't help it. She just desperately wants to be up and about, doing... something. Anything. So she snuck out of their room at the inn in the early morning, and she's now wandering Violet trying to find something to do with herself.

Then the first sparks arcs out from her to the ground. She blinks in surprise, turning to stare at the hand it came from.]

What- [But her question is cut off as another shock leaps out of her, frying the ground again and making her squeak in surprise. Soon, she's turning into a miniature lightning storm, bolts zapping around her again and again as she tries desperately to get these sudden powers under a semblance of control.]

Oh Celestia, what's happening? I can't... control- [A particularly strong blast interrupts her, lunging out in an arc towards any hapless citizens who might have had the bright idea to watch this. Run away!]

[She can't help but chuckle just a bit.] Oh, yes, I know that much, we all do.

As for how long it lasts, well, I just hope it's short. I wanted my magic back, but this is hardly a substitute.

Could you ever do any lightning spells before?

Not really. I probably could have copied that spell Trixie used to summon a stormcloud and zap Rainbow, but that wouldn't have been all that impressive. This is... more like what Princess Luna was throwing around on Nightmare Night.

Then was this all at random...?

Maybe... or maybe some of us are just more susceptible to this kind of thing.

But between us, you're the stronger one!

I'm not sure this has anything to do with strength, really.

... I'm also not sure that's true.

Huh? But... I'm much weaker than you.

And yet, who's the one who's been taking care of who ever since I got sick? Not to mention when I broke down after the Princess left...

Well, those are different... There's different ways of strengths and weaknesses, I think...

Then don't discount your own kind of strength. I'm not sure I've said this before, but... I need you, Fluttershy.

[Aw. She smiles.]

... I need you too.

[She'd hug her, but she's not sure she wants to risk it. Instead she gives her the sweetest smile she can manage.]

Alright. I guess the first thing to do is to figure out how to work with this. I mastered my own magic, I should be able to figure out how to use this electric power.

Maybe you should try it like it's your first time using magic, like when you were a foal.

Start with the small things and work my way up? Yeah, that's probably the best plan...

[She holds a hand out in front of herself, and starts to focus. Her skin begins to tingle as she calls out her new power, and little sparks start flowing up her arm towards the hand. After a few moments, a tiny ball of crackling energy starts to form in her palm.]

[Have some applause.]

Yay.

[She can't help but chuckle a bit in response to that, and shifts her hands around to hold the orb in between them, letting it slowly grow until it fills the space in the middle of them.]

Alright, do you have a watch handy? I want to time how long I can hold this before I start to get tired.

The Pokegear tells time, but try not to get too tired...

Actually, if I start to really tire myself out it'll probably mean I've reached a state where I can't actually hurt anyone, so that might not be a bad idea for a last resort.

[She's not feeling tired at all yet, though. Point of fact, holding this ball of electricity is surprisingly easy.]

[She still does not approve :| ]

But tiring yourself out might hurt you instead... Don't push yourself too much.</small.

Better me than anyone else. But I promise, I'll only do that if I don't think there's any other way to keep my powers from going out of control.

[Siiigh. But what can she do about it? She numbly nods.]

... If you have any better ideas, I'd love to hear them.

[Her voice is utterly devoid of bite or sarcasm. Point of fact, she sounds scared.]
