6th Spell: [Video/Action for Ecruteak]

[Twilight's standing in front of Ecruteak's gym as she turns on her gear, grinning one of those smiles that just refuses to go down.]

I've heard of a lot of things that you "always remember your firsts" of. I think everyone has something like that. Big events have a way of leaving an impression on your mind, after all, especially if you've never done anything like them before.

[She holds up a little something before the camera.]

I wonder if this'll fall into that category.

Hey, that gives me a thought. Who out there remembers their first gym victory? Any good stories? Did you have a good fight, or did you just steamroll the leader? Did you win your first time? Did you plan everything out before you came into the gym or just wing it? Anything you want to share would be fun to hear.

And on a completely different note, does anyone know where I can get a Munchlax egg? I've been reviewing my team and I could really use a tough normal type.

[She wasn't entirely certain she actually wanted Shy in there after the first ghost popped out, point of fact, but she carried on like a trooper... well, for Fluttershy, anyway.]

It's a badge. From beating a gym.

Oh, have you not gotten that far yet?

Well it's the evolution I'm really after. A Snorlax would be pretty much exactly what my team needs. But I'd like to raise it myself, and that means getting a Munchlax.

I-It's okay! You'd know I'd do anything for a friend.

I see. You're looking to shore up potential weaknesses, then? That's a prudent thing to do.

Though I should warn you that the eating tendencies of a Munchlax can get quite tedious before long. I hope you're prepared for that inevitability.

Still... you were jumping around all over the place in there. I feel kinda bad for bringing you in. Let me make it up to you. Let's go get ice cream.

[Because that will make everything better, right?]

[That's Pinkie Pie logic. So of course it works.]

It is the right time of year for ice cream...

Precisely. By the time my team is approaching the hundred level marker, I want them to be able to handle just about anything. I want a well-rounded, balanced force, and right now I'm heavily leaning towards the offensive side of things.

I studied up on that, yes, but I think I can handle it. I've been saving my money pretty much since I arrived, so I've got a lot stored up.

[Remember, when trying to cheer someone up, ask yourself "what would Pinkie do?"]

It really is. Things'll be getting hot and muggy pretty soon.

[She starts heading in the direction of the grocery store.] Well, better than when I arrive and everything was so cold.

What others do you have, at the moment?

[Follows, of course.]

It's hard to predict the weather here, without the Pegasi to help regulate it.

Dragonite, Kadabra, Heracross, and Magnemite, though I just captured the last one so it's not really all that useful just yet.

True, but the seasons seem to go as they should regardless. We might not be able to predict when it'll rain, but we can at least tell when it's going to warm up or cool down. Sudden changes notwithstanding.

Actually, I'm glad. I was thinking I wanted to leave town soon now that I've got the badge, and the weather will be good for travel.

Where will we be going next?

[Forgive Yagyuu a moment of carefully-hidden Pokemon snobbery, Twilight. His go-to team looks considerably different than yours.]

I see. Well, though I admit I can't be of much assistance to your venture personally, I can tell you that an associate of mine had a Munchlax as his starter, and he might be inclined to breed one for you if you're left with no better offers.

[Twilight is very proud of her pseudo-Legendary dragon, psychic anteater, hercules beetle, and future spaceship, thanks.]

That's great news, thank you! What's the man in question's name?

[Yes, but she doesn't have a bossy Espeon, a noble fire steed, or a fail!octopus, so therefore it is inferior. In Yagyuu's opinion, anyway. Because he's an asshole.]

Marui Bunta. Shall I refer him to you?

Well, we have a few options, and that's one of the reasons I'm bringing this up now.

We could head south, back to Violet City, and make a quick loop through there, Azalea, and Goldenrod so I can pick up those badges. We probably won't spend all that much time in any of those cities if we go that route.

Or we could go east, through Mount Mortar, and swing into Mahogany Town. If we go that way it'll take us a while, because we'll have to first get through the mountain, and then stay in Mahogany until I've trained up enough to beat the gym leader there, who's very tough.

And then there's west, where Olivine and Cianwood are. That's heading out to the ocean, so we'll be ending up riding Spike across the sea to Cianwood once we're done with Olivine, and then we'll have to turn around and come back. We'll probably be out there for a few weeks to just over a month, I'm thinking.

So those are our options. Do you like any of them in particular?

If you'd be so kind, sir. The name is Twilight Sparkle. And yourself?

[She mulls it over, trying to decide... but then one idea pops up.]

If we head back to Violet, we might be able to go through the Azalea forest! I love that place! It's so beautiful, and there are so many Pokemon!

Ah — the pleasure is mine, Sparkle-san. I'm Yagyuu Hiroshi.

[Well, that sounds like an answer to her. She beams at that plan.]

Great! And I never got a chance to go through that area before anyway, so it's win-win. South it is!
