Ah, I see... well, that's better than nothing, at the very least. I'll give you bits and pieces chronologically and give you time to ask questions if there's anything that you haven't been informed of yet.

Initially, England was populated by Anglo-Saxon tribes, but towards the end of the 11th century it was overtaken by the Normans, descendants of vikings that had settled in the north of France. My ancestors were among then, and they appear to have had a cursory knowledge of magic at that point... though, the actual family crest would not come into being until the 16th century, during the period of time known as the Renaissance. Well, our Renaissance, anyway-it was something that had spread out across Europe over time.
